That he keeps wrapped up in a headband. He has both ears pierced and has Onxy colored eyes. He has ablack long sleeve shirt and on his shirt into his left sleeve he has his headband there.
Over his long sleeve shirt he has the Chuunin vest it a green colored vest that has two pockets of the front. He has black pants that has tape wrapped around his right thigh. He has a leg band nad has wrist bands. He has black ninja shoes. (Sorry not better, could not really explain it well)
Equipment: Trench Knives (Weapon) kunai, shuriken, Shadow bombs Personality: Shikamaru is widely known for his lazy attitude that completely contradicts his amazingly genius mind. Often, he will refrain from doing something for the fact it is 'too troublesome', his favorite words. He has been accused of acting like an old man, usually being unenthusiastic and wanting to take a nap, rather than go out and do missions and training. Proof, is when the Sand and Sound village attacked Konoha, he attempted to fake sleeping still in order to not have to go fight. Too bad Pakkun, Kakashi's nin-ken, bit his leg.
He is known to like playing games such as Shogi, or Go, and has never lost to this date. It helps with his strategic mind, and IQ of 200+. But as stated before, even with such a high IQ, this boy is too lazy to do anything that isn't a game. Just because he seems like an ass who doesn't want to get up, doesn't mean he doesn't care. Shikamaru has a strong bond to his friends, and even said himself that he would sacrafice himself for his friends, and die, even if he lacks bravery, without a second thought. Beneath that thick and dense exterior, Shikamaru truly is a nice guy.
Another one of his signature traits, is that he finds all women, bossy and troublesome. He has good reason though, considering his mother is none for raging on a control fit. His father says the exact same thing, despite marrying Shikamaru's mother. Sabaku no Temari, a kunouichi of the sand, is stated as the most troublesome woman he knows, followed closely by his mother Yoshino, and Yamanaka Ino, his teammate. He has stated however, that he wants to "Marry someone not to ugly or beautiful. Have two children, first a girl, then a boy. Retire once the girl is married, and the boy has a job and spend the rest of my days playing Shogi and Go. Also to make sure I die before my wife." Name of Jutsu: Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu [Shadow Neck Bind Technique]
Creator of Jutsu: Nara Clan
Description of Jutsu: Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique developed by the Nara clan. To perform the technique the clan member will first bind their target using the Kage Mane no Jutsu technique. Once the target can no longer move, they form the needed hand seal to initiate this technique. The clan member uses their shadow to form a hand which will creep up their opponents body to their neck. Once the hand reaches the neck, it will constrict in such a manner so as to strangle the opponent. However, the clan member will need to be careful. If their target has a lot of chakra, they can turn back the shadow hand and prevent it from binding their neck.

Name of Jutsu: Kage Mane no Jutsu [Shadow Imitation Technique]
Creator of Jutsu: Nara Clan
Description of Jutsu: Kage Mane no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique developed by the Nara clan. It's original purpose was as a skill to help delay any pursuers. After forming the needed hand seals, the clan member is able to manipulate their shadow along any surface. By using other nearby shadows they can further extend the reach of their shadow, however they are limited to the surface area of the original cast shadow. Once the clan members shadow reaches the target shadow, it will attach itself. While attached the target will be frozen, only able to replicate in mirror form the actions of the clan member. If the clan member is low on chakra, the Kage Mane will falter and the shadow will return to its normal form.

Creator of Justu: Nara Clan
Description of Jutsu Kage Nui is a Ninjutsu technique developed by the Nara clan. To perform the technique Shikamaru will first form the needed handseal to extend his shadow. Shikamaru will then change the handseal to cause the shadow to emerge from the ground in tendrils. The tendrils can extend and whip about and are strong enough to pierce nearby targets. This jutsu can also be use as appendages to throw extra weapons, or even to bind an oppponent as if with strong, thick rope

Description of Jutsu Kageyose no Jutsu After capturing a target with the Shadow Imitation Technique, the user summons shadowy tendrils from their opponent's body, controlling them in the same manner as Shadow Sewing, but from the opponent's body instead of the user's.

Description of Jutsu Trench Knives Shikamnaru adopted Asuma's chakra channeling trench knives after his death.By channeling his shadow into the knives, Shikamaru obtains a portable source of immobilization that he need only throw at an opponent's shadow to capture them and save himself the energy. Likewise, Shikamaru becomes able to use multiple shadow-based techniques at once, predominately involving the use of one of his new abilities to restrain a target and follow up with the Shadow Imitation Technique to capture them. An enemy will be trapped even if their shadow is struck by the knife

History: Nara Shikamaru graduated as a Genin from Konohagakure Academy, along side the rest of Rookie Nine. He comes from a family of Deer Herders, hence his name "Shika" meaning "Deer." Not much was known before the Chuunin Exams, other than the fact he seemed to be just a lazy teenager who complained about everything. Upon reaching the Chuunin Exam Arc, Shikamaru's Team enters the Forest of Death in hopes of finding their two scrolls. Once they run into Hyuga Neji, a Genin from last year, Ino attempts to woo him by removing her hair tie. It doesn't work...
After jumping into the bushes to hide, Shikamaru states that their team is just a bunch of cowards. How are they going to make it? it turns out, later, as they are making their way through the shrubbery, they stumble upon Team Seven, and a group of Sound nin. Uchiha Sasuke's unconscious body lay beside that of Uzumaki Naruto's, while Haruno Sakura was being confronted and beat to all hell by her opponents. Shikamaru convinces Ino to go save her rival, the Team showing their first amount of courage or confidence since beginning.
By using the Ino - Shika - Chou formation, they were able to buy Sakura enough time to back up until Neji and Tenten arrived, with Sasuke awakening. After Chouji preformed his Meatball jutsu and Ino had traded minds with Kin, Shikamaru used his Kage Mane to snare the leader, Dosu. This was the first show of his Shadow jutsu techniques that his family is known for. After the mess was cleared and Sasuke took care of the enemies, Team Nine reappears and Ino attempts to help Sakura, who had chopped off her hair in an attempt to escape, while Chouji and Shikamaru take care of Naruto's stupid comments.
After the trial is complete, it turns out that Team Nine was able to retrieve their scrolls after all. They come back to the tower, just to find out that the Hokage has requested a Preliminary tournament since there are too many Genin for the final round. He watches as everyone is paired up, until finally his turn arrives. As he makes his way down to the arena, he complains about the fact he was paired against a woman, let alone the sound ninja who Ino had taken refuge in her mind.
During the fight, Shikamaru shows just how much of a strategist he is, by manuvering Kin around the arena, despite her bell attacks. He then sneaks his shadow underneath the thin string she is using to help her jutsu. Kin doesn't notice that a string so far away from the floor, and so thin, shouldn't be making a shadow, and is soon caught by it. She simply smirks however, and accuses him of being suicidal as he forces her to remove a shuriken from her pouch. But of course, he has to do the same.
Kin and Shikamaru both throw the shuriken, a laugh emitting from the Sound nin as he leaned back to dodge, causing her to do the same. She was caught mid-sentence, smashing her head against the wall behind her and falling to the floor unconscious. Flipping back to his feet, Shikamaru was declared the winner and stated she should have paid attention to the landscape in her battle area. He made his way back to the balcony, watching intently on Chouji's match.
Since he had succeeded, Shikamaru along with several other of his friends and enemies, were pronounced to the next round. As they made their way to the balconies, Shikamaru kept mentioning how troublesome this was going to be. They stood up there, watching Neji and Naruto's fight and then waiting for Kankuro and Aburame Shino's. When Kankuro gave up, Shikamaru's nerves became on end watching Temari make an enterance into the field. He planned to give up, if Uzumaki hadn't shoved him off of the railing right there and then.
This caused him to fall to the arena, being pelted by trash and explaining how these people didn't care about this fight. Looking up at Temari, he began to wonder why he was doing this. Temari charged, bringing her Iron Fan, or Tessen, down closed on the spot he had been. "Had" was the keyword, since as the dust cleared, Shikamaru stood on the Arena's walls, standing on two Kunai. As hetold her that he didn't care if he became Chuunin or not, she began to get enraged, and attacked him with a large slicing gust of wind. But yet again, as the dust settled, Shikamaru was no longer there.
Being fast at running, away, the Genin hid behind a few trees, breathing heavily. The sand kunouichi soon sent another gust, using her kamaitachi jutsu, and causing him to need to think of a plan. Reverting to his signature thinking position, Sarutobi Asuma explained to Yuhi Kurenai what he was doing, and how his IQ was that of 200+ despite his laziness. As he opened his eyes, Temari growled and sent another attack flying. Shikamaru dodged, removing his jacket and a few kunai, and setting his plan into action. Through the dust, Shikamaru's kunai flew at Temari, her blocking simply with her Tessen.
She smirked as she watched the shadow come, figuring it couldn't make it passed the line she had created from before. She narrowly missed it as she was proved wrong, the shadow making ti past since the arena walls had enlargened the shadow on the field. If Kankuro hadn't warned her, she would have been caught as Shikamaru's jacket floated down by the weight of a kunai, and creating a second extension of his shadow. This continued until Temari shoved her Tessen into the ground and began to do a Bunshin jutsu.
Halfway through her kata, or hand signs, she froze, realizing she couldn't move. Shikamaru's voice made it to her ears, stating how the Kage Mane had finally succeeded. Turns out, he had sent his shadow into the tunnel Naruto's fight had created, and used the hole's shadows to propel it to the otherside, right behind Temari. Thus he captured her, forcing her to walk forward and realize defeat. Though, he rose his right hand, and gave up the fight, right then and there. After all, he had thought of almost 200 ways to defeat her, and that was enough satisfaction.
Later on, Otogakure no Sato and Sunagakure no Sato attacked Konoha, and encases them in a sleeping gen-jutsu. Only three genin dispel it in time, including Shikamaru. Even though, he still pretends to be caught in the jutsu so that he didn't hasve to do anything, and could just take a nap. But Haruno Sakura attempts to wake him up, making him scream in pain as Pakkun attacked his leg.
After he was properly awake, him, Sakura, and Naruto -- who had just woken up -- head out to find Uchiha Sasuke, whom had gone after Gaara when the opponent was taken away by his teammates and siblings. They find out that they are being trailed by eight Sound nin, and Shikamaru shows his first act of courage by making them go on without him as he stays to buy them time with the enemies. Despite all his efforts, he eventually catches them in his Kage Mane, to find out there is a ninth one. His Chakra was exhausted, and he surely would have died had his Sensei, Sarutobi Asuma had not arrived. His sensei made quick work of them, bringing Shikamaru back to safety.
After this all happened, Shikamaru found out he had been promoted to Chuunin, and was given his first duty. He had to lead a team of his genin friends to retrieve Sasuke when the oaf left Konoha to join ranks with Orochimaru. Despite his efforts the mission was failed because of a group of Sound nin that Orochimaru had sent as bodyguards, called the Sound Four. However, during this, the team ended up fighting each nin on their own.
Shikamaru, being forced to fight Tayuya, yet another woman, demonstrated tactic even if he was constantly being defeated. The woman used a flute to make long range attacks like gen-jutsu, or to control three demon creatures to attack for her. Finally, Shikamaru ended up capturing her in his shadow bind, only to have her respond by activating Level Two of her curse seal. Thus she is able to resist with just brute force. Trapping Shikamaru in a gen-jutsu, he was unable to move, and she went in for the kill. Yet once more that brain works wonders, and he used his shadow to break his finger, the pain dispelling the jutsu in time to counter attack and catch her in his shadow once again.
Her brute force easily overcame his exhausted body however, and she escaped, bouncing bacwards to attack with a rebound of jutsu. Luckily, a surprise person made an enterance, saving his ass from anymore trouble. Before him stood the same sand nin he had fought in the Chuunin exams, now a Jounin and smirking sadistically. At first he thought she was there to kill him, until she asked him what the situation was. She told him to "Shut up you sexist bastard," after he stated that a woman shouldn't save a man. Telling him not to underestimate her power, the blonde kunouichi bit her thumb and summoned her most powerful summoning: Kamatari, the wind-scythe weasel.
Her attack destroyed nearly the whole entire forest, leaving Tayuya crushed under the weight of multiple trees. She turned around, grinning at Shikamaru and asking him how it was. He then sated in his mind that she was scarier than his mom, but this time he would need to thank her, giving her a warm smile. That smile is gone soon after as they arrived in the Hospital, to find out most of his teammates were close to death.
He sat fiddling with his fingers in the lobby, directly across from Temari whom began to speak with him, providing a lecture about how he obviously wasn't trained right. He stood up, head down as he shoved his hands in his pockets and walked off, his father Shikaku leaning against a wall near by. Shikaku stopped him, giving him a second lecture on how Shikamaru had told Temai he wasn't cut out to be a ninja and being talked down to by a woman. He tells Shikamaru that that was a coward's path, and if he quit being a ninja, then that would mean his friends would be put under someone elses care, making it possible for them to die. That would be more pain than now.
Tears fell down his cheeks when he waqs relieved to hear that his friends were okay, and that each would survive. He chooses to do better next time for their sakes, and is surprised to find he was appointed to academy teacher. He even coordinated and led the Chunnin exams after the Time skip. Before however, after the time at the hospital, Shikamaru was the only one to see the Sand trio off, taking Temari's teasing with a grain of salt, and even a bit of humor. As they walk off, he went to say, "That's why all women are..." and never finished what he said.
After the Time Skip, Shikamaru is seen walking alongside Temari, his height noticably taller than hers. They ran into Naruto and Sakura, greeting Naruto after his time away from Konoha. When Naruto attempts to find out if their on a date, both deny it, and quickly change the subject. Shikamaru lets knowledge slip that he is now a Chuunin Proctor along with being an academy instructor.
